Cleverly riffing on the classic fairy tale, the charming all ages
drama Who’s Afraid Of The Wolf looks at serious family matters
from the point of view of a six-year-old girl. The wondrously
inventive, irresistibly played Prague-set tale centres on
sensitive moppet Terezka whose favourite bedtime story
is “Little Red Riding Hood”, even though it gives her bad
dreams. An only child, her family consists of tightly wound
Mother, a once-promising singer who put her career on
hold; always-working Father; and elegant, critical Granny,
who schemes to reunite Mother with her former boyfriend, a
selfish virtuoso musician. When another kindergartner lands
a new sibling, Terezka becomes obsessed with whether her
mother is really her mother, little suspecting the altogether
different secret surrounding her parentage.
A prize-winning animator, writer-director Marie Procházková
supplements the lush, colour-saturated visuals with cute,
childlike drawings.
