An ordinary man, but not banal. Destined for all-consuming
passion. Warmed and condemned by love, he moulds and
ravages love, but is also moulded and ravaged by love too...
How much darkness, memory, or fear remains from one love
story to another? ... Thus begins the adventure of The Man
Who Loves, between paradise and hell, reflections and
smiles, comedy and intimism.
Director Maria Sole Tognazzi: "This film follows the rhythms
and rules of life, the story could and should become an
open dialogue, with ourselves and with the viewer. I hope
this exploration of the fragility of a man broadens into an
intense search shared by all... I wanted to make an adult
love story in which love is direct, with an edge. I wanted
to achieve rather realistic intimism, harsh and sweet at the
same time.”
Monica Bellucci and Ksenia Rappoport, just as the others
involved in Roberto’s emotional world, become in some way
transformed or realized by love. The greatest fears of the
film’s protagonist? To express the pain and terror of being
abandoned.
