In the captivating travelogue portrait by the first-time director
Margarita Jimeno, we follow the band's – and above all the
charismatic frontman Eugene Hutz's – rapid development
from underground legends in New York to being an
unparalleled international phenomenon. The film provides a
close-up view of Gogol Bordello's international collective of
musical brats during their most intimate moments, and we
are present at both the many surreal and obscure concerts,
when Hutz philosophises about life's complexities, and when
the band improvises during an exclusive jam session with
their role-model and idol Manu Chao and their soulmate,
the Bulgarian saxophonist Yuri Yunakov.
