Tokyo was the inspiration for three short films made by three different directors from three different countries. Shot in the heart of the city, they reflect the image of the metropolis. Interior Design by Michel Gondry is the surreal fable of a young couple who move to Tokyo. The boy wants to be a filmmaker. The girl drifts gradually apart. Both of them will be drowned in the immensity until the girl, feeling alone, discovers something strange… Merde by Leos Carax tells the story of a mysterious man who spreads confusion on the streets of Tokyo through a succession of irrational and provocative acts. “The Creature of the Sewers”, as the media have dubbed him, arouses passion or repulsion. He will be captured, judged, and then… The protagonist of Bong Joon-Ho’s Shaking Tokyo is a hikikomori, someone who has withdrawn from all contact with the outside world. When the pizza delivery girl fains during an earthquake, the unthinkable happens – the man falls in love. Will he leave the dead security of his apartment for the streets of Tokyo?
