The idealistic prison officer Eva is faced with the dilemma of her life when a young man from her past gets transferred to the prison where she works. Without revealing her secret, Eva asks to be moved to the young man's ward – the toughest and most violent in the prison. Here begins an unsettling psychological drama, where Eva's sense of justice puts both her morality and future at stake.
Shooting in the defunct Copenhagen prison of Vridsløselille, DP Jasper J. Spanning watches Eva and the prisoners the way a documentary crew might, shadowing them at work and observing when no one else is around. This lends the film a semi-secretive sense of intimacy within a sterile and oppressive space. And in the end, the real question is: Where does the cycle of violence stop?
